Pre & Post Op

(Before & After Surgery)

Pre-Op

After your consultation, if you and Dr. Taylor decide to proceed with the surgical pathway, our team will promptly arrange the necessary details to move forward. You will receive a theatre date for your surgery, which will be scheduled based on availability and your preferences.

Along with your theatre date, you will be provided with a comprehensive surgical pack. This pack is designed to guide you through every step of the process and will include:

Pre-Op & Post-Op Appointments: A detailed schedule of all your required appointments before and after the surgery. This will help you keep track of necessary consultations, follow-up visits, and any additional tests or evaluations.

Post-Op Instructions: Specific instructions tailored to your particular surgery. These guidelines will cover how to care for yourself after the procedure, including information on wound care, medications, activity restrictions, and signs of potential complications.

What to Bring to Hospital: A checklist of items to bring with you on the day of your surgery, such as personal hygiene products, comfortable clothing, and any necessary medical documents.

Surgical Quote: A detailed estimate of the costs associated with your surgery, including any potential additional expenses, payment options, and insurance information.

Information on the Condition Being Treated: Educational materials that provide a deeper understanding of the condition being addressed by the surgery, including its causes, symptoms, and expected outcomes.

Admission Details: Specific information regarding your admission to the hospital, including the time and location of your check-in, any pre-admission procedures, and contact information for any questions or concerns.

Our goal is to ensure you are fully prepared and informed every step of the way. If you have any questions or need further clarification on any aspect of your surgical journey, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff. We are here to support you throughout the entire process.

Post-Op

A few days after your surgery, you will be contacted by Active Hand & Upper Limb Therapy who is the allied health team that works closely with Dr Taylor. They will arrange post-op appointments in their clinic and take care of the wound management if you have had surgery on your elbow, wrist or hand.

One week following your surgery, our clinic nurse will reach out to you to check on your progress and address any immediate concerns or questions you might have. This follow-up contact is intended to ensure that you are recovering well and to provide any necessary support during the early stages of your recovery.

Around two to four weeks after your surgery, you will have scheduled appointments with either our Practice Nurse/Active Hand and Dr. Taylor. During this visit, you will receive a thorough evaluation of your recovery progress. This will include an examination to assess how well you are healing and to address any issues that may have arisen since your procedure.

Please note that the timing of these follow-up appointments may vary depending on the specifics of your surgery and the type of post-operative care required. If your surgery or recovery needs dictate a different schedule, adjustments will be made to ensure you receive the most appropriate care for your situation.

Our team is committed to providing you with personalized care and will make sure that all necessary arrangements are tailored to your individual needs. If you have any questions or need to discuss your follow-up plan in more detail, please feel free to contact us.
