Associate Professor Orthopaedic Surgeon Specialising in Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist & Hand
Dr Fraser Taylor is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. He is an Associate Professor at Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia. He attended medical school at the University of Otago, New Zealand and went on to undergo Orthopaedic training in New Zealand. He has completed the Brisbane Upper Limb Surgical fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia and also an Upper Limb Fellowship at the renowned Wrightington Hospital in the United Kingdom.
He started as a staff specialist surgeon on the opening of the Gold Coast University Hospital in 2013 and started private practice at John Flynn Private Hospital in 2014. Dr Taylor is a founding partner of Orthopaedic Clinics Gold Coast. He is an active researcher and has more than 40 publications in the peer reviewed literature. Dr Taylor is a peer reviewer for Techniques in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
He has presented his research multiple times at local, national and international meetings. He is an educator of medical students, junior doctors and local and international fellows. Dr Taylor was awarded the Australian Hand Surgery Society travelling fellowship to North America in 2019 and the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia Travelling Fellowship to Europe in 2021. He is the current Secretary of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia.
